At the beginning of each year, I typically get the itch to change up my hair. Whether it’s the color or a quick chop, a new hair style can add a fresh, fashion forward feel to your overall look. This year the bob has made its come back. The longer bob is the new trend in hair this season, giving a modern edge to a classic look. The Beauty Department provides great tips on what to specifically ask your hairstylist if you want this look. The bob works great for most hair types and face shapes, and will give a cool, fresh look for Spring.

Here’s my list of everything I use to prep and moisturize my skin and hair during the winter months!

1. Color Minded Sulfate Free Shampoo- Sulfate free shampoo has been all the rage for a while now, but I haven’t found a better version than Bumble and Bumble’s. It’s really good at keeping your color from fading and with just the right tone. And in case you are new to sulfate free shampoo, it’s amazing for many reasons but my favorite is that you don’t have to wash your hair more than once or twice a week.
2. Shea Organic Shea Butter- This stuff is 100% Shea butter while most moisturizers that have Shea in the title have a much smaller percentage. I use it on my lips at night, hands and any other dry spots that pop up. My hands usually get really dry and my knuckles even crack during the winter from all the cold and dry heater air, but I’ve used this stuff for the first time this winter and haven’t had my hands crack at all. Definitely recommend it.
3. Lash Primer- This is also something I’ve started to use more recently and I LOVE it. It basically gives your mascara something to grab onto and adds extra volume without the cake-y look that just adding several layers of mascara gives. It’s also got a lot of vitamin E and other conditioning ingredients, so it’s a really good way to take care of your lashes and prevent loosing lashes, etc.  Read more…

Above: Loose Braid

I always need a little fall hair inspiration, when my tendency is just to throw on a beanie and be done. I am loving these trends for fall hair and will definitely be trying them out. The loose braid is a easy, less refined look that feels modern and fun.

Center Part

The extreme side part trend of the spring is out and the center part is in. Whether wearing your hair up or down the center part makes a statement with any look.

The Wet Look

The sleeked back look was all over the runways for fall and it’s all about wet roots and dry ends.

Low Bun

The top knot has stepped aside for the low bun to take center stage. This look is great both messy and more refined.

One of my new favorite trends in skincare is charcoal. During summer months, when my sensitive skin needs deep cleansing without the harshness of most cleansers, this detoxifying charcoal face wash works great! Charcoal is a natural antibacterial that will deeply clean pores without irritation. Here are a few products available with this new ingredient.

1. Garnier Clean + Shine Control Cleansing Gel 2. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask 3. Kuro Shampoo 4. LUSH Dark Angels Cleanser 5. One Love Organics The Cleansing Sponge 6. Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser 7. Revitalizing Hydration Gel 8. Shamanuti Activated Charcoal Cleanser
