Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins started YMC, “You Must Create”, back in ’95 with the inspiration of literally creating their own style. With a heavy tom-boy aesthetic, you know Blake and I fell in love at first glance. In starting YMC, Moss and Collins, aimed for “modern, functional clothing which eschew trends in favour of understated, wearable style,” and I think they did just that. YMC are creating timeless yet modern looks for men and women each season, offering something fresh to the fashion-minded without compromising the longevity and lifetime of a piece.

Amie Cunningham is the founder and creator of the popular children’s brand, Thief and Bandit. She is originally from Richmond but currently based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and considers herself and artist, woodcarver and designer. Her first experience with fashion/t-shirt design was in high school. She copied album covers of some of her and her friends favorite bands since they never toured in her small town. She went on to study art at McMaster’s University in Hamilton, Ontario. I am so in love with her fresh, unique handprinted clothes for mom and baby. I’ve known about her kids stuff for a while, but didn’t realize until recently she also makes adult apparel, which is super cute and has a great balance of being fashion forward and eclectic. Amie uses a really natural process when creating her apparel, all the fabric she uses is organic along with non-toxic ink for printing. She is committed to her handmade process and loves employing people in her local community.  Read more…

Electric Feathers is the amazing, luxury clothing line created by Leana Zuniga. Zuniga is known for her oversized, billowy shaped pieces and her Fall ’14 line is keeping in stride with this same aesthetic. The current line has some 80’s influence with pieces like jumpers and voluminous trouser pants but also some fun takes on the classic sun dress. Her use of gorgeous and rare fabrics are one of the many special details used in Read more…

LA based Danish designer, Rikke Korff, has created one of my favorite lines SkarGorn. She originally worked for Levi’s in the 1990s and helped redefine denim with the invention of the 3D engineered blue jean. Now designing her own line of denim and t’s, SkarGorn, is inspired by her Danish roots. SkarGorn, meaning “alley of knives” is an ode to the Danish coastline and Venice Beach. Taking a little bit of old and new, SkarGorn is becoming a staple with its modern and timeless pieces made in the best of quality. I am a huge fan of their t’s and you can find them at shops like Madewell and Urban Outfitters. Again, a perfect staple to have in your closet and a great line of quality made garments.
